I’m not definite we’re all seeing the same movie here. One comment I withhold hearing is that the actresses did not get well, and I cannot comprehend it. Ziyi Zhang especially gave one of the best performances I have seen in years, at least. Impartial peer at her physically shaking during her last scene with Ken Watanabe. This complete giving over to the emotion of the character is nearly unsurpassed in anything I’ve seen in years, and I’m a substantial cinemaphile. That’s not to mention the flawless scheme she carried the postures and demeanor of the child star that played her young self through-out, giving a sense of consistency that I have almost never seen done this well. It’s early impossible to remember that these two actresses are not really the same person with the intention their performances meshed. So, maybe it’s the reserved nature of Asian women, and the dualing of this nature with a sense of individuality and self-expression that people are interpreting as “not view the character”?

All I can say is, the cinematography and settings are comely, as are the actresses (and what a stellar cast!), the performances are enormous (maybe the bar has been lowered so noteworthy lately that the degree of skill brought to the veil here is more than some people can handle) . That’s the only reason I can offer for the awful reactions I have heard.

The narrative is enthralling, and very realistic in terms of human nature. The romance is fantastic. There are flashes of humor and some of the script is pure poetry (and as a poet you can enjoy me on that!) I could go on all day, but let me honest say this.

The movie is awesome, and the time flew by for me. It is not the over-wrought heart-rending sap that some may want it to be, but it is very factual to the method most people behave, and especially in the reserved manner of the Japanese. In my book everyone interested in this deserves a colossal round of kudos, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys magnificent things, and incredibly realized films.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a fine movie. I haven’t read the book, but now wish I had. The movie is discontinuance to 2 1/2 hours long, but the account and scenery are so moving, it seems so distinguished quicker. The costumes are improbable and it’s no wonder they are nominated for Oscars.

It tells the fable of a petite girl called Chiyo who along with her older sister, is sold by their father who has no money. The people who bought her, want to fabricate her a geisha so she goes off to school but brings disgrace to herself and therefore they perform her their slave. Upon chance, she meets a kind man who buys her a sweet cherry ice cone. She never forgets him and sees him again by chance some years later. Now she has hope and learns again (in a fracture course) how to be a geisha and her novel name is Sayuri.

The legend that unfolds from there has ups and downs but the ending is so bewitching that of course I cried my head off. The setting is ravishing and it made me want to go and visit Japan. The music too is radiant and I hope they do score some Oscars next week because it’s a very deserving movie. There is also a huge performance by an actress called Li Gong who plays ‘Queen Bitch’ Hatsumomo and ogle for a limited role played by Ted Levine who we normally search for in a humorous role as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer in Monk.

Beautiful go that you absolutely have to eye. (Especially on the huge conceal if you level-headed can) .

This is a incredible gape at Jewish immigrant life in the 1880’s in Fresh York’s Lower East Side. Carol Kane is terrific as Gitl, who comes over with her young son from a Russian shtetl to join her husband, Jake (Steven Keats) who immigrated five years earlier. He’s become “Americanized” and she clings to the used ways. Jake has a job, has slice his hair and shaves, likes to dance and play around with the girls. When he came over to net established in the current world, his wife and baby stayed with his father. Now his father has died and Jake has done the correct thing. He’s borrowed some money for a diminutive furnished flat and sent for his wife and son. Gitl, however, is “religious.” She speaks only Yiddish. Because married women do not reveal their hair, she always wears wigs or scarves. Going to parties and dancing is something she feels so downhearted with she cannot hold section. Jake, of course, has had girl friends and wants the freedom of the life he discovered when he came over. He begins seeing again one of them, Mamie (Dorrie Kavanaugh), who teaches dancing. And to wait on develop ends meet, he takes in a boarder, a apprehensive scholar named Mr. Bernstein (Mel Howard) . You can contemplate where this is going.

Hester Street is a very humane, warm movie. There are no dramatic climaxes or screaming arguments. Carol Kane plays Gitl as a shrinking, gentle young woman who wants to please her husband but feels deeply about the religious customs she grew up with. She’s valid, with her pale, lovely face and those vast, sunless eyes. And Jake is no one-dimensional philanderer. He truly is puzzled over his wife’s inability to embrace the freedoms and excitement of their original life. While he stays pleasing powerful the same, Gitl slowly changes, becoming stronger and more confident. The movie closes with Jake paying Gitle for a divorce so that he can marry Mamie and they’ll inaugurate a dance studio. And Gitl and Mr. Bernstein will marry and they’ll originate a runt shop. Selling what? They’re not distinct, but Gitl will sell so that her Mr. Bernstein can perceive.

The movie evolks with gigantic warmth the life of Hester Street, where so remarkable of people’s lives were lived on the sidewalks and curbs. One long sequence, with only background music and street sounds, has Jake and his young son, Yossele, whom Jake has renamed Joey, leaving their apartment and walking hand in hand up Hester Street. The street is filled with people and shops, horse carts, shopping stalls. Kids are playing, couples walking around, men sitting on steps and talking. Everything is being sold, chickens, shoes, potatoes, dresses, apples, lotions, sweets, you name it. Romanticised? Undoubtedly. Highly effective? It determined was.

The movie was shot in sad and white, which suits the period and the anecdote. The DVD image is first rate and there are inviting interviews with Joan Micklin Silver, her husband, Raphael Silver, Carol Kane and Doris Roberts, who played a secondary role.

This film tells the chronicle of a young Russian Jewish immigrant woman, excellently played by Carol Kane, who arrives in Original York’s crowded Lower East Side slums at the turn of the century. She has near to join her husband, whose conclude in America has resulted in a recent admire interest and disenchantment with his old-world wife’s feeble ways. But they have a boarder in their exiguous apartment–a ancient Jewish man whose dedication to Talmudic stare draws the wife’s interest as her marriage crumbles. The film vividly portrays the sense of the teeming slums and tenements of the time, the problems of the dislocated immigrants struggling to hold their culture while adapting to a unusual one. It is both an enchanting chronicle of personal triumph–Carol Kane is a winning heroine–and an challenging historical period. If you are descended from immigrants from any country, you owe it to yourself to recognize this. Destroy

Ahhh, the classic post-apocolyptic thriller that sets the standard for post-apocolyptic thrillers. One tagline reads ‘In the future, cities will become deserts, roads will become battlefields and the hope of mankind will appear as a stranger’. I remember skipping school in the early 80’s to pause home and gape this one on cable, Such a spacious movie that has lost none of it’s appeal even after 20 plus years. This is the chronicle of a man, once an officer of the law, who now roams the highways of post-apocolyptic Australia searching for gasoline and maybe a reason to exist. In this time, gasoline is the most important commodity, so mighty so men raze for it. Mel Gibson plays Max, in the role that made him known worldwide. During his travels, he comes across a cramped settlement that is actually producing petroleum. This settlement is besieged by a group of motorized, murdering, mauraders who want all the fuel. Brilliant that the fuel is life, the people in the settlement defend the fuel, but their strength and ability to maintain out against this mighty force is becoming less and less each day. Max strikes a deal with them for all the fuel he can carry provided he can rep a truck for them so they can haul their tanker of gas out of the wasteland and rep a better life in a fabled coastal land. Max fufills his destroy of the bargin, and leaves the settlement with his fuel, but is attacked and left for listless. Having lost his car, he decides to drive the tanker. This sets up one of the most improbable highway battles ever filmed, as the settlers have turned the tanker into a animated fortess, and the marauders will finish at nothing to finish the tanker and come by the gas. This movie is what I would call a nearly pefect example of apt casting, record, dialogue, location, script, wardrobe, etc. to execute up a approach perfect movie. Everything in the movie works so well that your entire attention is focused on the veil, even after multiple viewings. This is actually the second in a trilogy, Furious Max being the first and Inflamed Max Beyond Thunderdome being the third, but, in my conception, this one is the best. It’s raw, gritty, sometimes humourous and competely involving. On a side brand, what’s up with Warner Brothers and their crummy cardboard packaging? It unbiased seems so flimsy and cheap. And don’t seek for a lot of extras with this release, unprejudiced the elephantine and widescreen versions and some production notes.

This fair in…I heard George Miller and Mel Gibson are bringing Max aid one more time in 2004 in Indignant Max: Fury Road……

This movie, the second in the Excited Max trilogy, is easily the best of the three. Visually, it’s very distinctive. The first movie showed a society breaking down in the post apocalyptic world. By this movie, it’s broken down. The first movie showed the immediate aftermath. There were aloof working phones, power lines, people trying to go on with their normal lives, etc. There was even a police force, of which Max was a member, trying to contain order. Now, society has descended into complete anarchy. Civilization’s infrastructure has broken down completely. In the first movie you saw shops, service stations, hospitals. Now you sight people scavenging in a wrecked world. Max’s car is no longer a colorful shadowy vehicle, but a delapidated, dirty broken-down beater, its engine unexcited in top shape, but its interior stripped, and its body covered in dust, battered and weak. Max’s leather police uniform is no longer immaculate, but torn and patched. Visually, this movie area a unique standard, and like “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner”, changed the contrivance movies in its genre were made. Even the setting works in telling the record. Where the first film featured country with trees and green grass, this movie is plot in a blasted desert, further accentuating the sense of collapse.

And this movie’s quality doesn’t destroy with the visuals. It has a vast, lively legend, very reminiscent of the pulp adventures of musty. It’s hero, a wanderer, a uniquely skilled and deadly loner, is a mythic archetype. The actors are all perfectly cast. Mel Gibson, with only a few lines of dialogue, turns in a compelling, emotional performance, showing the transformation from the blissful, loving husband and father of the first film, to the wounded, burnt out shell of a man seen here. In this film, Max is a tough, fang-scarred obsolete wolf, who has absolutely nothing to live for, but whose survival instinct, combined with his toughness and resourcefulness, objective won’t let him stop.

The other characters in this movie are also original and memorable. Bruce Spence’s gyro captain is a likeable opportunist. Mike Preston’s Papagallo is the clear, idealistic leader, in over his head, but trying his best. Vernon Wells makes a mammoth, flamboyant villain. And Kjell Nilsson is the Humungus, whose face we never see; leader of a vicious band of trash, whose hulking physique, and savage followers seem at odds with his whine speech, and ostensibly conciliatory manner. The account and characters elevate this movie over the host of indecent budget imitators that followed. But the film is not short on action either. And George Miller was a gifted director who attach to film what remain the best car traipse scenes ever shot, proper down to this day. Action lovers will bag plenty of excitement with this movie. It’s a bad shame the third film wasn’t very favorable, as it killed the prospects of a long running series. This is gloomy because Max, wandering lone wolf that he is, is a character who, like James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, or the Conan of the former pulp magazines is eminently safe to a series of adventures.

How do you improve on perfection? Ask David Simon and co., because Season Two of THE WIRE somehow managed to surpass the flawless first season. I fancy this series. It’s THE SHIELD with a brain, it’s HOMICIDE with balls, it’s THE SOPRANOS in the ghetto, it’s HILL STREET BLUES in the 21st century. In short, it’s the best of all TV worlds, all rolled into one, and thus, comparable to nothing else out there.

Season Two takes us into a world that is seldom seen, and never before explored in this depth on TV– the world of dockworkers/longshoremen. If you had told me that I’d advance to be fascinated by the lives of a bunch of doughy Polish dockworkers in Baltimore, I’d have laughed at you. Well. Nick to five minutes after the season two Wire finale: I was blubbering like a baby, brought to tears by some seriously yarn storytelling, thoroughly invested in the triumphs and tragedies of these men.

Hats off to anyone and everyone alive to in this show– you’re doing Large work!

Coming off the insist triumph of its first season, The Wire faced a pleasing mountainous test in trying to recede on without compromising its astoundingly high quality, but having fair finished watching I’m overjoyed to say any traces of a sophomore wobble are virtually nonexistent. Once again, the point to brings objective the legal mix of cynicism, humor and tragedy to its stories of crime, punishment, and lives on the edge. I don’t know about the claims on this location that season two is worthy to its predecessor, but The Wire’s standards of writing, characterization, and realism are serene very powerful intact. Not to mention, The Wire’s sprawling focus and blink-and-you’re lost complexity are, if anything, stepped up as it juggles multiple, often tangentially related, plotlines over the course of its twelve-hour running time. This season certainly doesn’t behold The Wire abandoning its examination of crime in Baltimore’s gloomy ghettoes, but rather expanding the notion of its microscope to hide the illegal activities of the (mostly) white working class on the docks of the city’s East Side and the international syndicate that provides their side income. As a result, the approach of the explain has become even more comprehensive, stretching from the projects to the docks to the police headquarters to the prison system. At times there’s a bit of a too-many-cooks feel to the events of this season as the expose tries to shoehorn the struggles of the disrupted Barksdale-Bell drug crew into the main plotline (in a setup for the third season, it turned out), but that’s a shrimp complaint, as what goes on the veil is smooth probably the best TV out there.

Season two starts with the major players, on both sides of the law, dispersed all around Baltimore, with McNulty and Daniels serving punishment duty as a result of their actions at the conclusion of the first season, Avon Barksdale and his nephew D’Angelo in lockup following their arrests, Omar hiding out in Fresh York waiting to testify in a key cancel trial, and Stringer Bell left trying to possess his and Avon’s housing-project drug empire in the face of serious supply problems. McNulty, especially, has become a utter smash, with his addictive personality and dissatisfaction with his unusual post on the Maritime Police reaching original heights of self-destructiveness highlighted by an hilarious episode-opening bender that sees him smashing up his car and having random sex with a diner waitress before passing out in her bed. It’s not long, though, before everyone gets relieve together, as a personal vendetta draws the attention of Major Stan Valcheck (aka Prez’s father-in-law) to the longshoreman’s local led by his feeble neighborhood rival Frank Sobotka. It does feel a bit contrived seeing the wire team brought together for another case, but seeing them do their thing in all its detail is unruffled unbiased an inspiring as ever when they finally rep to it. The display aloof provides a better behold into current policing than anything I’ve ever seen, from the nuts and bolts of surveillance work to the internecine wrangling that does nothing but impede the trusty solving of crimes. Not to mention, there are plenty of repugnant moments thrown in to shake up the audience, from a pile of slow bodies in a container at the conclusion of the first episode to some truly cringe-inducing slay scenes to the recognize of shotgun-toting street criminal and all-around tough guy Omar making out with his boyfriend.

Season two introduces a recent cast of villains, led by the mysterious elderly crime lord known only as The Greek and his murderous underlings, who have taken advantage of the local longshoremen’s declining fortunes to turn the city’s docks into their enjoy personal device plot for drugs, prostitutes, and God knows what else. It also delves into the hard-boiled existence of a people who, in their bear intention, have been forgotten almost as considerable as blacks in the housing projects as the U.S. continues its transition to a middle-class country. In the role of Frank Sobotka, Chris Bauer makes a more than convincing everyman, as we ogle the character dealing with everything from his crumbling union to his bumbling wannabe-criminal son to his nephew’s increasing involvement in the urban drug trade. As he struggles to withhold his local (and his family) together in the face of the tightening scrutiny of the cops and the pressure of the Greek’s crew, Sobotka also becomes increasingly symbolic of the decline of American union labor, but at the same time he emerges as a compelling character in his have fair. Frank is a relic and a dinosaur and he’s starting to realize it more and more, but he detached fights to beget as powerful of his niche as he can, keeping up his positive front even as things descend apart around him. He’s proud of his job and what he’s accomplished, and his grim determine to resist his declining fortures sends him on an inexorable path to the season’s grim resolution.

While they don’t win center stage as distinguished as in the first season, the Bell-Barksdale crew and many of its central figures are collected around to one extent or another, with a whole unique plot of problems (ranging from the imprisoned D’Angelo’s newfound independence to the aforementioned dearth of quality product) putting Stringer and Avon in major damage-control mode. Left to urge the crew largely on his acquire, Stringer emerges as an even more keen and complex character, a villain whose intelligence and calculation are matched only by his ruthlessness; you salvage the sense this guy would end his have mother in the name of business. At the same time, though, it’s hard not to treasure his single-minded commitment to being the best at what he does, no matter how tough the decisions it requires of him. Watching Stringer work, I couldn’t aid but judge he would’ve made a colossal captain of industry if he had been born in the suburbs instead of the projects. This season also sees the originate of the rift between Stringer and Avon that would only intensify in the third season. Needless to say, the emergence of this division is handled in the show’s usual organic and realistic manner, with the tension between Avon’s street-soldier philosophy and Stringer’s all-business near culminating in their vastly different attempts to choose their supply problems. Fortunately, the problems in the Bell-Barksdale camp do give us viewers Brother Mouzone, a bowtie-wearing Muslim hitman from Current York with an irregular combination of comprehensive education and seemingly unmatched deadliness, who’s brought in by Avon to protect the crew’s territory and ends up running into some problems of his occupy entertaining a long-running grudge between Omar and Stringer.

As others have eminent, the events of any season of The Wire are difficult to encapsulate in a review; anything anyone can write short of a full-length magazine feature is unprejudiced going to be a bare-bones outline that comes nowhere advance capturing the exhaustive detail that goes into each episode. Suffice it to say, then, that season two is a seamless progression from its predecessor, while at the same time setting up events that continue to unfold even now, two seasons later. It’s objective allotment of an ongoing saga, but at the same time everything that happens in this season is worth watching in its have true. Every season is lustrous in its acquire device, from the intense, propulsive first to the sprawling, tragic, recently completed fourth, and season two is no exception. If you’ve never seen this reveal, you’re missing out on the best TV has to offer. Seriously.

I caught this movie in theatres a couple of times when it was first released in 1970. It impressed me then and tranquil does, for several reasons. First, it has a very noble cast. And they are not completely wasted, only 75 percent wasted. Second, it has plenty of sex, violence, and the other human failings that fabricate watching other people so great fun. Third, obvious, it’s overly ambitious, and falls well short of its large intentions. But, it is a trail worth taking even if you know you’re headed down a dead-end street. Don’t listen to the so-called experts. This movie is one that is worth making up your acquire mind. I’m mild enjoying this film some 30 years later, and I contemplate you will, too.

This movie was a bomb when it first came out and I can peer why. BUT, for those who treasure gradual 60’s retro-style you collect almost three hours of it. The frosty fashions, cars and ravishing people kept me enthusiastic. I mean it’s no Gone With The Wind but for those of us who would have loved to be trust fund babies lounging around our daddy’s villas hip deep in the 60’s party scene, this movie is for you.

I notion this movie was very valid. It has its flaws (which I will fetch into later), but overall, it’s a very well done allotment of cinema. This film, along with many others is proof that Korean movies, and by extension Asian movies, have grown up and are ready to seriously compete with Hollywood for global influence, audience and market fraction. I am impressed with Tae Guk Gi’s attention to detail, special effects, cinematography and other high production standards.

Now, enough people here give you a swiftly synopsis of the record and adequate description of the residence, so what I am going to do is reply to some of the comments that other reviewers have made. I reflect my input might be genuine be cause I am a Korean raised in North America and can understand both worlds and clarify things that were either misinterpreted or not clearly understood by non-Korean reviewers.

Some non-Korean reviewers have commented that it seemed like there was some over acting or acting “over the top” going on. Well, hold it or not, Koreans act like that in proper life. They are emotional by nature, roar at each other a lot, slap around their younger peers, etc. Jin Sok and Jin Tae’s mother collapsing after the protest departs looks like something a Korean mother would do in that spot. What some non-Koreans would judge as “overacting” I would, as someone from a Korean background, think realistic and normal (give the vulgar situations that the characters go through) . Anyone who thinks overacting is purposely going on in this movie needs to join the peace corp or something and secure exposed to other cultures in different parts of the world.

One reviewer plan that Koreans fought unusually well given their supposed reputation at the time as dreadful soldiers. Well yes, South Korean soldiers did hasten away and retreat from North Koreans early in the war. South Koreans were badly underequipped and poorly trained because the U.S. belief their priorities in 1949 were in rebuilding Japan, not cessation communism in the Korean peninsula. It’s animated to stamp that U.S. soldiers early in the war also broke and fled the field because they were paunchy and indolent occupation troops formally stationed in Japan. Jin Tae and Jin Sok were in the 1st ROK division commanded by the radiant 29 year feeble general Paik Sun Yup. The 1st ROK division never broke or fled the field without orders. It reached Pyongyang before any U.S. units despite the fact that they didn’t have as many motor vehicles and was largely a foot mobile unit. Thus, the scenes were ROK troops are fighting without U.S. attend in the streets of Pyongyang are largely upright. Speaking of General Paik, if any of you want to read a Korean War history book that’s from a aesthetic Korean perspective, read Paik’s book entitled “From Pusan to Panmunjom.” It’s available on Amazon.

I understand that this movie has been compared quite a bit with Saving Private Ryan. I have to say that in the areas of intensity, dramatic power and overall sincerity, I occupy Tae Guk Gi supasses Saving Private Ryan. However, in terms of battlefield realism and special effects, I occupy SPR surpasses TGG. To me, the battlefield effects are a notch below SPR, but a notch above John Woo combat movies like Windtalkers. I mean, molotov cocktails exploding like motar rounds when they should really flash and flame modestly, machine guns blaze without spent cartridges being expended, the tanks peer like an wrong horrible between a Sherman and a Pershing, cannon rounds and grenades alike all seem to have the same size explosions, so on and so forth (btw, Jin Tae does not wobble through a hail of gun fire from a “mini-gun”. That Russian machine gun is not a gatling-type “mini-gun” it is infact a mature, single barrel Pulemet Maksima obrazets, vintage World War 1. The cylindrical sleeve is to benefit support that single barrel from overheating) . Having said that, the battle scenes are nonetheless highly engaging and better then 90% of all other war movies. However, due to those modest technical slips, I give the movie 4 and not 5 stars.

This 2004 Korean film is about two brothers caught up in the national tragedy of the Korean War. The older brother is vast and strong and shines shoes for a living with the hopes of becoming a shoemaker. His younger brother is 18 years archaic and the pride of the family because he is going to college. We first meet these brothers in a joyful time when their future looks colorful and the older brother is planning to win married. But suddenly, war is upon them and the family is forced to waft their home in Seoul. The two brothers are forcibly drafted and we soon gawk them on the battlefield.

The older brother is distinct to protect the younger one. He risks his life to go on hazardous missions because he knows that if he receives a medal, the younger brother will be able to secure out of the army. The battles are repulsive and loyal and better than any I have ever seen. I understand that the director accomplished this with a very minute budget and I have nothing but applause for him for this difficulty. There’s a human side of every battle, and I felt actual emotion watching them.

Somewhere along the line, the older brother turns into a monster of aggression. Not only does he display exceptional bravery, he also shows exceptional cruelty.

This tale goes deep into the heart of Korean national identity. Both sides are equally cruel to ordinary villagers who are honest trying to survive. But one thing is positive and that is the bond between the brothers even though they eventually wind up in opposing armies. This is a serious film about brotherhood. And it is also a film about Korea. Actually, it helped me understand what is happening there today.

The film is 2 hours and 20 minutes long and it didn’t sprint for one single moment. Something fresh is happening constantly, whether it is the relationship between the brothers, the different kinds of battles, or the apprehension in Seoul when the South Koreans are executing North Korean sympathizes and the brothers spy their family fervent.

If you dislike watching war films, stop away from this one. This is surely one of the bloodiest I’ve ever seen. But if you are keen in history and in the impact war has on people, this film will back you understand. It might haunt your nightmares, but it is certainly worthwhile. War film buffs especially should execute a trace not to miss it. Highly recommended.

Dang i remember when i first saw menace II society wait on in the day.lowriders were the thing having a space of daytons on your shuffle was the thing.this movie fit in perfect with that culture at the time.so i was so angry when this was released on dvd.what a letdown the most grainy mess i have ever seen and the sound was crappy.then here comes high def and blu-ray! now i finally got to watch this movie the procedure i always wanted to it looks awesome! the soundtrack is rather subtle during dialogue but when called upon the gunfire music and sound effects kick your ass!it seems to me that they bumped up some of the gunfire and stuff on the unique soundtrack and it sounds very natural.there seems to be a few video shots that didnt fare so well onto blu-ray but is very subtle and hardly noticable.so if you are a fan of this movie you are definatley in for a treat! the ending scene they really packed a wallop into the soundtrack and it is grand as ever.you will not forget it…..peace

This is one of my all time accepted movies from the 90’s / high school. I was surprised to glance it released on Blu Ray so soon. I had the standard DVD which didnt give it justice in my Blu Ray player. Large report, stout sound. Highly recommend this movie on Blu Ray.

If you are a naturalist and wildlife enthusiast, then this box dwelling is for you. Includes all episodes of all 12 seasons of the high-quality series that first aired on PBS for most of the ’80s and early nineties. Some of the production aspects are dated, of course, such as the orchestral arrangements for the soundtrack and haircuts and fashion, but other than that this series is a feast for the eyes and the mind. The footage is very compelling, from close-ups of the animals in dynamic behaviour to panoramic views of all wildlife sanctuaries in America, from Yellowstone, the Rockies, the Everglades, Alaska and noteworthy more! Beyond tons of grand animal action and sound explanation of their biology and ecology, the series shares practical advice on how to sight wildlife in the outdoors and the importance of conservation.

While I reflect this terrific family “edutainment”, be informed that there are dramatic scenes of chases and predation that are bloody and often ends with the cute animal being killed and eaten by a predator. While most adult nature enthusiasts understand this is an critical facet of animal life, such scenes could upset young children. In any case, the narration consistently reminds of the ecological imperative of predation and avoids sensationalism, so in fact it might be a helpful design to introduce your kids to “animal violence”.

This is a labour of like and a celebration of wildlife. “Wild America” was a series that always respected the natural world and the intelligence of the audience. Highly recommended!

I had high hopes when I bought this complete dvd residence of the Wild America series. I was not disappointed. The video quality is very ample. Everyone that I peruse this with comments on how obedient and gripping the Wild America programs are. I sometimes select a disc with me when visiting a friend or relative. When the program starts, everyone is transfixed by nature’s beauty that is captured in this excepional tv series. Marty Stouffer does an trustworthy job of filming and providing commentary on the many wild animals and scenic locations. I never pick up tired of watching this, and 120 episodes on 24 discs is a lot of material to seek.
